The Sing Buri Court has approved a warrant for the arrest of two police officers in connection with the armed robbery of Kasikorn Bank's Inburi branch in Sing Buri province in March, Pol Gen Pansiri Prapawat said on Monday.

The two officers are Pol Col Pichit Kromprasit, the superintendent of Sai Ngam police station in Kamphaeng Phet province, and Pol Sgt Narai Thippreechathorn, attached to the Nakhon Sawan police headquarters.

Pol Gen Pansiri, a deputy national police chief, said a police investigation revealed that Pol Col Phichit was the mastermind of the robbery and Pol Sgt Narai the person who gave AK47 rifles to the men who staged the bank heist and fled with about four million baht.

Checks on Pol Col Phichit's telephone use revealed that he contacted the robbers and parked his car near the bank on the day of the robbery, he said.

Pol Gen Pansiri said the two officers had been dismissed from the police service.  A committee has been set up to investigate them for a serious breach of discipline.
